The University of Melbourne wanted to revitalise their merchandise store with an innovative signage solution that would not only represent the university’s prestigious brand but also serve as a visual focal point inside the store. With the goal of creating a unique and engaging display, Vision One Technologies was brought in to turn this vision into reality. The project required a custom signage installation that would blend seamlessly with the store’s design while offering optimal visibility to passersby.

Crafting visual narratives: a collaborative journey to mesmerising signage.

For this project, Vision One Technologies collaborated with signage consultants Studio Semaphore to design and install a state-of-the-art digital signage system within The University of Melbourne’s merchandise store. The store’s management had clear goals: they needed the signage to be placed inside the store, suspended above the central service desk and visible from various angles, including from busy pedestrian routes outside the store. The design required a visually compelling installation that would serve both an aesthetic and functional role.

After assessing the project needs, Vision One selected the Aurora series of Indoor Flexible and Radius Curve LED Displays as the ideal solution. These ultra-thin (8mm) LED modules are capable of bending and curving up to 180°, making them perfect for the unique carousel-shaped design envisioned by the client. The modular design allowed precise alignment with the store’s ceiling structure, ensuring the signage matched the surrounding architecture.

Bringing an LED vision to life: elevating brand presence and captivating customers.

The installation involved several phases, as the Vision One team worked closely with The University of Melbourne and their appointed builder. Due to the university’s meticulous quality control processes and the need to coordinate with the store’s operating hours, the project required careful planning and extended timelines. Throughout the process, Vision One received significant support from Westan, the distributor of Aurora LED displays, ensuring all technical specifications and documentation were met.

The content for the signage, created by The University of Melbourne’s in-house team, was easily uploaded using a Scala SMP Series Media Player, with content management handled through a NovaStar Taurus TB50 Processor. This allowed for easy control of the content displayed, minimising the need for external training and ensuring smooth operation.
