Salesian College
Salesian College is a Years 7 to 12 Catholic boys school based in Chadstone, celebrating diversity and promoting relationships built on mutual respect. Inspired by the spirituality and educational principles of its founder, St John Bosco, Salesian College provides a values-based education across two campuses located either side of the Monash Freeway. Situated across 25 acres, the College has been part of the Chadstone community since 1957.

Salesian College goes big and bright in this upgrade.
Vision One was engaged to upgrade the projection and AV technology within the multipurpose room at Salesian College’s Mannix Campus. The project focused on replacing the existing projector with a high-brightness laser projection solution while retaining and integrating existing AV infrastructure where practical. The upgrade also introduced a new equipment rack, wireless microphone system, audio processing and amplification, as well as a convenient wall-mounted control and connection point for staff and presenters.

Retaining the old, combining the new.
The existing ceiling-mounted projector was decommissioned and replaced with an Epson EB-L690U WUXGA Laser Projector, installed onto the existing ceiling post. The existing Vivi Wireless Presentation System was retained and connected to HDMI 2 of the new Epson projector, allowing staff and users to continue accessing the room’s existing wireless presentation functionality.
Vision One also repurposed the existing motorised projection screen and four existing wall-mounted speakers, including their cabling, helping maximise the value of the existing infrastructure while integrating it into the upgraded system.
Storage that's as good as its tech.
Within the multipurpose room storeroom, Vision One supplied and installed an Australian Monitor 12RU Equipment Rack, providing a dedicated and organised location for the room’s core AV equipment.
The rack houses a Shure SLXD24DS8H57 Wireless Digital Handheld System, providing reliable wireless microphone functionality for presentations, assemblies and events. A Q-SYS Core 8 Flex Control Processor was also installed to provide centralised audio control and processing.
Network connectivity was supported by a TP-Link TLSG1005P 5-Port Gigabit Desktop PoE+ Network Switch, while an AUDAC SMQ500 4-Channel Power Amplifier was installed to provide amplification for the room’s existing wall-mounted speakers.
Convenient management for all.
To provide convenient access to room controls and connectivity, Vision One installed a dedicated wall enclosure on the adjacent wall. The enclosure houses a PureTools HDBaseT Wall Plate Extender Set, an Audac WP225 Universal Bluetooth Receiver Wall Plate, and an Apple iPad 11-inch 128GB Wi-Fi mounted using a Bosstab Elite Wall Mount.
A Gigabit PoE to USB-C Converter and USB-C to Ethernet Adapter were also installed to support the iPad and provide reliable network connectivity. The enclosure additionally provides a convenient storage location for the wireless microphone transmitters.
Following installation, Vision One fully tested and commissioned the system to ensure all components were correctly integrated and ready for use.

The completed AV upgrade provides Salesian College’s Mannix Campus with a more reliable, flexible and user-friendly multipurpose room solution. The combination of high-brightness laser projection, upgraded wireless audio, centralised AV processing and accessible room control creates a versatile environment suitable for presentations, assemblies, performances, meetings and other school activities. By integrating new technology with suitable existing infrastructure, Vision One delivered an effective AV solution that improves the room’s capabilities while maintaining a practical and streamlined setup for staff and students.
The new Epson projector provides 6,500 lumens of brightness, delivering clear and vibrant content.
The Shure microphone system in conjunction with the Q-SYS processing and Audac amplification provides a more capable and flexible audio solution for events and presentations.
Associated connectivity within the installation provides staff with a convenient interface for managing and accessing the room’s AV technology.
The upgrade maximised the use of existing infrastructure while introducing new technology where it would provide the greatest benefit.
