Logan Hospital brings the 'happy' with LUMOplay.
In early 2020, Logan Hospital reached out to Vision One to transform its Children’s Inpatient Ward through innovative technology. The goal was to create an engaging and therapeutic environment for young patients. Fast-forward two years and with a little technology-dust and the help of both Qantas and a “squizier-than-we-thought” rent-a-car, our LUMOplay solution came to life.
- Enhance Patient Engagement: Utilise interactive technology to promote play and physical activity among children.
- Facilitate Therapeutic Activities: Implement solutions that support emotional well-being and distraction from medical procedures.
- Improve Ward Atmosphere: Create a welcoming and vibrant environment to ease patient anxiety.
- Incorporate Advanced Technology: Leverage cutting-edge software and hardware to deliver seamless interactivity.

Transforming the patient experience through comforting interactive play.
The LUMOplay system included an Ultralift Australia designed and developed right-angled ceiling mount to suit both the Epson EB-L520U 5,200 ANSI Lumens Laser Projector and the Orbbec Astra 3D Camera.
The Orbbec Astra was strategically positioned above the projector in order to adequately capture the projection region. The Astra Series 3D Camera provides computer vision that enables dozens of functions such as facial recognition, gesture recognition, human body tracking, three-dimensional measurement, environment perception and three-dimensional map reconstruction.

Fostering joy and healing through interactive technology.
23x games were selected from the LUMOplay marketplace (including soccer, dancing, hungry hippos, alien invaders and more). The software was powered by an Asus 24″ PC with touch screen monitor. The video and USB signal is streamed via the use of a Clean Digital HDMI/USB transmitter and receiver kit.
Game content is programmed to transition every ten minutes, providing children with a constantly-changing playlist of games to interact with.
- Increased Interaction: The interactive projection system encourages children to engage physically, promoting health and activity.
- Dynamic Content: A rotating selection of games provides continuous stimulation, keeping children entertained.
- Therapeutic Value: Play-based therapy helps alleviate anxiety, fostering a positive hospital experience.
- Innovative Care Environment: Modern technology enhances the hospital’s commitment to providing top-tier healthcare services.
Vision One’s collaboration with Logan Hospital exemplifies the potential of integrating interactive technology in healthcare settings. By transforming the Children’s Inpatient Ward with the LUMOplay system, we not only enriched the patient experience but also demonstrated our commitment to fostering healing environments. This project is a testament to our dedication to innovative solutions that improve patient outcomes and redefine healthcare engagement.
