Enter, the future: 3D holograms break the space-time continuum at RMIT.
In early 2022, RMIT University sought to enhance its technological landscape within its iconic ‘Building 80’ through the integration of emerging technologies. Collaborating with Vision One Technologies, RMIT aimed to deploy a cutting-edge, holographic solution to create a dynamic, engaging environment for students, staff and visitors. The deployment of HYPERVSN technology was the result of these forward-thinking conversations.
- To create an immersive, visually engaging experience through the implementation of 3D holographic technology.
- To develop a portable solution for showcasing holograms in various RMIT events, such as the launch of “Digital3.”
- To integrate the HYPERVSN Wall into the fixed architecture of Building 80, enhancing the building’s technological prestige.
- To ensure ease of use and flexibility for RMIT’s staff by engineering a bespoke, adjustable and portable display framework.

Holographic brilliance redefines RMIT's digital landscape with mesmerising 3D displays.
Founded in 2011 and initially backed by Sir Richard Branson and now more recently Mark Cuban, HYPERVSN redefines the concept of visual storytelling, bringing personalised, engaging and impactful interactions to end-users. HYPERVSN devices have been named among the world’s most impressive products by BBC, CNN, Mashable & USA Today. To date, HYPERVSN has won numerous industry awards, including the ShellLiveWire & the Top 3 British Innovations of the Year.
To demonstrate the technology as a “test-case” (before fully-deploying as fixed architecture), RMIT requested a mobile configuration of the HYPERVSN Wall be built for the October, 2022 launch of “Digital3” at the Capitol Theatre. Our experts quickly went to work on developing a portable concept, leveraging our network of metal-works fabricators and engineering designers.
HYPERVSN is the award-winning technology company responsible for developing the highly-disruptive 3D holographic display that provides an immersive experience for viewers.

From concept to reality: RMIT's tech evolution through immersive visual experiences.
Our solution adapted the HYPERVSN Wall Frame to a portable AV trolley, with delicate and specific metal-works conducted to ensure both a cosmetic and “operable-with-ease” outcome. With the success of the portable HYPERVSN Wall at the Capitol, RMIT and Vision One proceeded with a fixed deployment in the main foyer of Building 80 – the Swanston Academic Building (SAB); home of the College of Business and heralded as one of the most iconic buildings of RMIT University (proudly designed by another Vision One client, Lyons Architects).
Our team engineered and fabricated a bespoke and curvatured wall brace, perfectly adaptable to the supplied HYPERVSN Frame. We fixed the frame to a lateral adjustment bracket, providing swivel and articulation flexibility and ease-of-install capabilities.
With the power of HYPERVSN’s cloud-based 3D Studio, Vision One’s design team developed a short animation that featured the RMIT logo, rotating around a flared, burst effect. This animation played in perpetuity, literally “wow-ing” guests on arrival.
- A captivating and immersive experience for students, faculty and visitors, enhancing the university’s reputation for technological innovation.
- The portable HYPERVSN Wall allows RMIT to showcase cutting-edge technology at various events, improving their ability to engage diverse audiences.
- The fixed installation in Building 80’s foyer provides a permanent, high-tech feature that adds to the iconic status of the space.
- Simplified management and operational efficiency thanks to the custom design of the mobile frame and bracket, ensuring easy deployment and usability.
The collaboration between RMIT University and Vision One Technologies delivered a future-proof, visually stunning solution that aligns with RMIT’s commitment to technological advancement. The success of both the mobile and fixed HYPERVSN Wall configurations demonstrates the power of combining cutting-edge technology with tailored design and installation expertise, leaving a lasting impression on all who experience it.
