Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School (abbreviated as PEGS) is a multi-campus independent Uniting Church comprehensive co-educational early learning, primary and secondary day school, with three campuses located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The school is the product of an amalgamation of two schools, Penleigh Presbyterian Ladies’ College and Essendon Grammar School, which was completed in 1977.
In the middle of 2022, the IT team at PEGS reached out to Vision One to re-think and re-design the audio visual ecosystem in their Larkin Centre lecture theatre. Originally built in 2012, the space had been plagued by defunct control systems and several retrofits that only further complicated operations for its users.
The existing Epson EB-Z8050W Z-Series Projector was replaced with an Epson EB-PU1007W 7,000 ANSI Lumens WUXGA Full HD Laser Projector and ELPLM10 Middle Throw Lens. Delivering best-in-class color brightness, with 7,000 lumens of color brightness and 7,000 lumens of white brightness, this 3-chip, 3LCD projector features a virtually maintenance-free 20,000 hour laser light source and air filter.
We decommissioned all existing control infrastructure and upgrades to an AMX-powered system, featuring: 2x AMX MD-702 Touch Screen Wall Panels, 1x AMX NX-1200 – NetLinx NX Integrated Controller, 1x AMX PR-0402 Precis 4×2 4K60 HDMI Digital Matrix Switcher and a Global Cache IP2 Cc Relay to IP Device to facilitate screen commands. Additionally, we leveraged the existing Biamp Nexia DSP to integrate audio control into the new AMX programming code.
Ultimately, the new system allows for the following 4x inputs:
1) Lectern HDMI
2) Bio Box HDMI
3) Apple TV
4) Bluray Player
Finally, we supplied a new lectern microphone: the Sennheiser MEG 14-40 B Speechline Gooseneck Microphone. The MEG 14-40 is a matt-black-painted, 40 cm gooseneck microphone with one flexible section, an XLR connection and built-in Sennheiser KE10 cardioid microphone capsule.
